Lake Superior Sodalite is composed of syenite clasts containing fluorescent sodalite. These stones are made up of fragments of coarse-grained igneous rock, a similar composition to granite. Under ultraviolet illumination the mineral  sodalite will fluoresce, creating glowing yellow/orange splotches or veins.
