Solid Copper Lower Michigan Casting
Michigan's Lower Peninsula in a solid copper casting. Sand cast in our foundry. Buff polished copper contrasts with the green oxidized sides. Measures 4.5" x 3.5". Photos are representative only. Each piece is unique.
Sand Casting is made from pouring molten Michigan Native Copper at 2200 degrees F onto open-faced sand cast molds. When they are cooled, a green or turquoise colored chemical patina is applied then highlights are buff polished to expose the glowing solid copper underneath. The items are sprayed to preserve the finish and to prevent the copper from tarnishing.
